Due to changes in the law, all Florida voters who vote by mail must submit a NEW mail ballot request to their county Supervisor of Elections. The last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot is 5pm-10 days before election.

League of Women Voters members attended a meeting with August guest speaker Michael McGrath, Lead Organizer for Sierra Club Florida’s Red Tide, Spring Restoration and Wildlands Campaign. He works on local, regional, and statewide efforts to improve water quality and protect wild and rural lands from development pressures. During his presentation, Michael shared a bit about many of the concerning water quality trends in Greater Tampa Bay and how better stormwater management can help prevent excess pollution to our waterways and reverse these trends. He held a community discussion for how Sierra Club members, supporters, and other concerned residents can help co-create and organize a watershed scale campaign to protect Tampa Bay, our coastal economy, and our quality of life from red tide, fish kills, seagrass losses, and more. Unfortunately the state regulatory agencies have been negligent in supporting waterway restorative measures that pass and nullify legislative wins, placing the health of waterways in peril. There was also discussion about recruiting non-profits and churches to take advantage of government incentives to convert to solar.
